Canapa Day in Sant'Ambrogio di Torino

On Sunday, October 4th, Sant’Ambrogio di Torino hosts the first edition of "Canapa Day," an event dedicated to industrial hemp, its uses, and the various activities that can develop around this crop.

Organized by the CanapaValleSusa Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Sant’Ambrogio di Torino, the event will take place on Via Caduti, starting at 10:00 AM.

Producers, exhibitors, associations, and experts will be present throughout the day. It is an opportunity to view products and materials, meet industry professionals firsthand, and discover the diverse applications of hemp—ranging from agriculture and food to textiles and construction.

These are precisely the areas of focus for CanapaValleSusa, an association founded over a decade ago with the aim of reviving a crop that is part of the local heritage and exploring new possibilities for its future.
Above all, however, Canapa Day is an event open to everyone—designed for those who know little or nothing about hemp and wish to learn more without needing to be industry insiders.
The fair opens at 10:00 AM, with the "Let's Talk About Hemp" (*Parliamo di canapa*) discussion scheduled for 11:30 AM. At 2:00 PM, the DiventoCanto choir will provide musical entertainment, while the afternoon will see the town council chamber host sessions dedicated to hemp in Italy, hemp-lime construction, and green building.
The day will also address the topic of medical cannabis, featuring the associations *Seminiamo principi* and *Almastar*, which are dedicated to advocating for patients' rights and addressing issues related to the therapeutic use of cannabis. A conference titled "Medical Hemp: Testimonials and Issues" will also be dedicated to this subject. The afternoon session will delve into some of the key themes shaping the sector's development:
- A conference titled "Hemp in Italy: A Plant at the Heart of Complex Dynamics," led by anthropologist Davide Cacchioni.
- A focused session on the contrasting development of green building in Italy and France, featuring craftspeople Luciano Riberi and Micheline Buisson.
- A discussion on hemp-lime, featuring a presentation by artist Paola Zanella titled "Hemp-Lime Beyond Functional Limits: An Experimental Journey from Wall to Art."
Some of her works will be on display in the Corradi Hall, alongside the photographic exhibition "Hemp in the Susa Valley" by anthropologist Davide Cacchioni.
It is a day that combines a trade fair, educational insights, and culture, offering a tangible opportunity to learn about a sector that is often only partially understood.
