On Friday, October 2, 2026, the Colle del Sestriere Resistance Committee, the Municipality of Sestriere, the *Unione Montana Comuni Olimpici Via Lattea* (encompassing the Upper Susa, Chisone, and Germanasca Valleys), and the Turin Provincial ANPI will hold a commemorative event at the "Colle del Sestriere – Resistance Monument."
This gathering honors the memory of the 210 fallen—members of the "A. Serafino" Autonomous Alpine Division, the "Garibaldi" and "GL" partisan brigades, and civilians—who lost their lives in the Chisone and Germanasca Valleys and the Upper Susa Valley during the National Liberation War (1943–1945).
The celebration marks the 82nd anniversary of the Battle of Sestriere, the 80th anniversary of the Republic, and the 34th anniversary of both the Committee and the Colle del Sestriere Resistance Monument.
The event will take place at 10:30 AM at the Resistance Monument in Piazza Europa 1 (opposite the Town Hall). The program includes the opening of the ceremony, the raising of the flag, honors to the fallen, and the laying of a wreath at the monument. This will be followed by opening remarks from Gianni Poncet—Mayor of Sestriere and President of the Organizing Committee—and the official address by Nino Boeti, President of the Turin Provincial ANPI Committee.
