San Giorio di Susa

Join guide Laura Antiquario on Sunday, September 20th, or Friday, September 25th, for an excursion dedicated to observing and discovering deer during the rutting season!

The "bramito" (rutting call) is the vocalization male deer make in autumn to attract females and assert their dominance over rivals—a roar-like sound that echoes through the woods, creating a magical atmosphere!

The day will be entirely dedicated to discovering these animals, featuring plenty of anecdotes and interesting facts. Optical equipment (binoculars and spotting scopes) will be available for participants to observe the wildlife from a safe and respectful distance.

Departure at 2:00 PM from Borgata Adret (San Giorio). This is an afternoon hike lasting until sunset, with the return journey taking place after dark. Please bring a packed dinner. The activity is expected to end around 10:30 PM.

Excursion cost: €30.
Elevation gain: +600 m; moderate difficulty. Participants should be accustomed to hiking on mountain trails, as the return leg will be in the dark using headlamps.
Booking required. Appropriate clothing, hiking boots, and a headlamp are recommended.

The excursion may be modified or cancelled in the event of bad weather.

Note: While sightings are more frequent during the rutting season, this is a very delicate time for the deer as they focus their energy on reproduction; therefore, extra care must be taken to avoid disturbing them. Listening to and observing the deer is a wonderful experience, but respecting the animals is always the top priority.
