This year, the "Pelle Memorial," scheduled for Saturday, August 8th, is being transformed into a Half Marathon in the Alps, covering a distance of 21 km and 95 meters. This high-altitude challenge is suitable for marathon runners and mountain runners, making it the highest half marathon in Europe, starting and finishing at 2,035 meters above sea level on the Colle del Sestriere. The total elevation gain will be approximately 700 meters, while still maintaining the characteristics of a fast race accessible to all. A natural training ground for all running enthusiasts, it features routes suitable for all levels. Ideal for trail specialists and marathon runners who choose to prepare for their challenges at altitude, at 2,035 meters on the Colle del Sestriere.
The route will continue to have its start and finish in Piazza Fraiteve, which will take in the Grobials, Gelindo Bordin, Forestali trails, the bike path, the Borgata trail, and the Dematteis trail, before returning to Piazza Fraiteve with the final climbs. And speaking of the Dematteis twins, mountain running champions as well as friends and testimonials of the event, depending on their various commitments, they will do everything they can to be at the start of the “Memorial Pelle” Half Marathon in Sestriere.
