From Friday, July 10th to Sunday, July 12th, the spotlight of international motorsports will once again shine on Piedmont for the Cesana-Sestriere hillclimb, one of the most anticipated and adrenaline-filled events of the year.
The race, now in its 44th edition, is organized, as always, by the Automobile Club Torino, with the patronage and technical and organizational support of the Metropolitan City of Turin. Each year, the Road Management Department 2 ensures perfect safety along the 10.4 km of Provincial Road 23 involved in the race, with any necessary work on side protection and road surfaces.
The Cesana-Sestriere is more than just a race: it is a piece of motorsport history that, since 1961, the year of the celebrations for the centenary of Italian Unification and the Universal Exhibition Italia '61, continues to be written on the roads of the Olympic mountains. This year, the event takes on even greater significance as it is one of the very few Piedmontese motorsport events of international standing, boasting its now consolidated inclusion in the FIA European Hill Climb Championship for historic cars. This recognition underscores a fundamental record: the Cesana-Sestriere is currently the only four-wheel motorsport event in Piedmont to enjoy such a significant and institutional international showcase. Being part of the FIA Historic Hill Climb Championship means attracting drivers, teams, and cars to the mountains of the Susa Valley, while also adhering to very stringent organizational and safety standards. This is an organizational milestone that AC Torino achieves year after year with great dedication.
As always, during the second weekend of July, the drivers will put on a show, starting from the 1,350 meters of Cesana Torinese up to the 2,035 meters of Colle del Sestriere, on a track that severely tests the technique of each individual driver and the aerodynamic and mechanical reliability of the cars. The curves, fast hairpin bends, mixed sections, and straights require extraordinary courage and absolute driving precision. Not to mention the promotional and economic boost of the event, with the presence of hundreds of enthusiasts, professionals, and tourists.
This year's sporting checks are scheduled in Piazzale Giovanni Agnelli in Sestriere on Friday, July 10th, from 1:30 PM to 7:00 PM, and on Saturday, July 11th, from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. Technical checks will take place in Piazzale Agnelli on Friday, July 10th, from 2:00 PM to 7:30 PM, or by reservation in the paddock area in Cesana on Friday, July 10th, from 2:00 PM to 7:30 PM. On Saturday, July 11th, technical checks will be held from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Reservations are required to carry out checks in the paddock area. Official practice will begin on Saturday the 11th at 1:00 PM in Cesana, while the first car in the race will start at 11:00 AM on Sunday the 12th. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 2:30 PM in Piazzale Agnelli. This year, too, the historic competitive hill climb will be accompanied by the 14th Cesana-Sestriere Experience, a double parade of cars of high historic sporting value, starting on Saturday the 11th at 10:30 AM and on Sunday the 12th at 9:30 AM. A jury of experts will award the "Best of Show" prize, as well as all the other categories.
