From August 14 to September 27, the Galleria Umberto Benappi in Sansicario Alto will exhibit a selection of works by Gianni Dessì, Giuseppe Gallo, and Nunzio, key figures of the so-called Scuola di San Lorenzo, the artistic movement that emerged in Rome between the late 1970s and early 1980s in the neighborhood of the same name and developed around the former Pastificio Cerere.
While developing distinct and deeply recognizable languages, the three artists share a research that restores centrality to painting, sculpture, material, and gesture, in dialogue with the memory of tradition and contemporary sensibility.
The artists, who trace their roots to the new era of the Roman School, have contributed to the renewal of Italian art through a practice capable of combining formal rigor, poetic intensity, and experimentation. The exhibition highlights the similarities and differences in their artistic journeys, offering the public an opportunity to rediscover one of the most significant experiences in contemporary Italian art.
Gallery open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
