Today's instruments allow us to know with great precision the measurements of our planet, whether its mass, its volume or even just the distance that separates us from the destination of a journey. And yet, all this is nothing but the result of long research, of enterprises between the heroic and the tragicomic, of men halfway between academies and the pages of an adventure novel.
