The big news for the 2024-2025 season at the “Colle” is the fact that Alpine skiing will no longer be the only sport to dominate, because during the Turin 2025 World University Games, the ski mountaineering competitions will be held on the Kandahar slope, which, on the occasion of the 2006 Olympics, was named in memory of the late Giovanni Alberto Agnelli, President of the Organizing Committee of the 1997 World Championships.
And so: on Thursday, January 16, starting at 6 pm, the qualifications for the Sprint race will take place, while at 6.50 pm the decisive heats will begin, which will select the finalists, who will compete at 7.30 pm. On Friday 17, at 6 pm, the Mixed Relay is scheduled. The ski mountaineering competition program will end on Sunday, January 19 with the Vertical races: the women's at 6 pm, the men's at 7 pm. In short, after finishing their efforts on skis, those who frequent Sestriere on those evenings will be able to sit down in one of the bars "on the slopes", to sip a well-deserved aperitif while watching the much more demanding efforts of the ski mountaineers, enhanced by a strengthened and modernized lighting system.
