The story is the portrait of a woman who travels against the wind, literally but also metaphorically, against the prejudices of those years towards women's professional sports, against the rules imposed by sports federations, against race strategies: "I regret absolutely nothing, I don't even care what others say."
A woman and an athlete, a champion mountain runner, cross-country skier, road cyclist, and Italian mountain biker. Maria won every major award in the various disciplines at a time when everything was less calculated and monitored than today, driven by imagination and an indomitable love for sport and nature. Maria's story is one of sport and passion, but also one that has contributed, among other things, to changing the way women think of themselves, and therefore the way men think of women.
