The summer calendar of Alpi Terra di Stelle, a program of events organized by GAL Escartons and Valli Valdesi as part of the European Interreg Central Europe DARKERSKY4CE project, coordinated by INAF – the National Institute for Astrophysics, kicks off in July.
The Alpi - Terra di Stelle events kick off on Friday, July 3rd, with "Alpine Night: Ecosystems, Perception, and Orientation in the Dark," a nighttime walk with Environmental Hiking Guide Marion Vaglio Tessitore.
Meet at 9:00 pm at the Bessen Haut hamlet in Sauze di Cesana.
Info and reservations: m.vagliotessitore@gmail.com - 3336897940.
Through the 24 scheduled events, the initiative aims to raise awareness among residents and visitors of the value of natural darkness, viewed not as an absence, but as a heritage to be explored, enhanced, and preserved. Protecting the night sky isn't just a matter for specialists; it's closely tied to the quality of the landscape, the protection of biodiversity, the way we experience the mountains, and the opportunities for sustainable development the region can offer.
