Cesana Torinese

Following the success of the first edition, the initiative, born from the synergy of people passionate about local history, such as Marco Rigat, the Chambra d'oc association, and Renato Sibille, returns. The event aims to strengthen cross-border ties through a working group formed by the French and Occitan language center, uniting the forces of municipalities, local associations, and active partners such as the Cercle Alpin delle Hautes Alpes, the Friends of San Restituto, the Pro Loco di Cesana, and Chambra d'oc.

The day's program - Friday, May 29

A unique opportunity to rediscover the landscape through a "flowery balcony" of history and culture:

11:00 AM – San Sicario Borgo: Welcome and historical background on the founding of the Escartons.

12:00 PM: Start of the walk, enlivened by local anecdotes and stories.

1:00 PM: Picnic in Champlas Seguin.

2:00 PM: Continue to Champlas Janvier and Champlas du Col.

3:00 PM: Arrival at the Church of San Restituto: an introduction to the ancient devotion and prayer in the Occitan language.

4:00 PM – Sauze di Cesana (CasaViva): Welcome by Mayor Federico Marocco, community snack, and a large Occitan celebration with traditional music and dance featuring Matteo Ronchail (hurdy-gurdy), Giorgio Ferraris (flute and bagpipes), Luca Martin Poetto (hurdy-gurdy and galoubet), and Davide Vergnano (violin).

10:30 AM: Meet in Sauze di Cesana to organize spontaneous shuttles to consolidate transportation to San Sicario (those participating in the walk are advised to organize transportation between the starting and finishing points to coordinate return transportation).

The event is not just a walk, but a cultural journey. An invitation to recognize the ancient traces of the Escartons in the Dauphin engravings that still adorn fountains and churches in the area and which are still talked about today, as was done, for example, as part of the Chantar l’uvern festival, on April 10 in Sestriere (Cinema Fraiteve) with the screening of an interesting film that explores the theme of the 5 ecartons, "Les secrets des Escartons / La chartre des libertés briançonnaises" directed by Jean-Michel Fauré.
