Cinema in Verticale in Caprie

On February 26, Cinema in Verticale 2026 will stop in Caprie, at the Chiara Melesso Theater in Novaretto, with an evening dedicated to horseback riding as a practice of exploration, knowledge, and storytelling. The event will feature Paola Giacomini, who will present "Saddling and Departing," a project that brings together characters, materials, and experiences gained during her horseback journeys.

Through images, stories, and visuals, the evening offers a way to imagine horseback riding not as an individual endeavor, but as a team effort between people, horses, and the landscape.

A balance of listening, adaptation, and connection, in which slow progress allows for in-depth exploration of territories and the stories of distant places and communities, often invisible to faster routes.

Over the years, Paola Giacomini has undertaken numerous long-term horseback journeys, including the journey from Mongolia to Europe. This significant experience is part of a broader research project on horseback riding, its methods, daily choices, and the relationship between humans, animals, and the environment. "Saddling and Departing" was born precisely from this layering of experiences, as a space for sharing and reflecting on the meaning of travel today.

The evening will offer the audience a firsthand look at a different way of traversing territories, where the landscape is not a backdrop but an active part of the narrative, and the journey becomes an opportunity to meet, learn, and share stories from "other worlds," both distant and close at hand.
