“Crossing the Mont Cenis” collects several travel stories, from Hannibal to Charlemagne to René de Chateaubriand and Richard Wagner, just to name a few, the descriptions of Mont Cenis as a literary place and Mont Cenis in cinema.
The work aims to provide a tool for directly reading the words of those who traveled that road over the centuries and left a written record. It also includes excerpts from novels and poetic texts that testify how the pass inspired famous writers, and the accounts of some 'special travelers'... Finally, three cinematic works that found a location in Mont Cenis.
