The S.I.C. it occupies the hydrographic right of the Ripa stream, in the valley that rises from Cesana to Bousson, then continues towards Sauze di Cesana and Sestriere. It includes the villages of Champlas du Col, Champlas Seguin and Champlas Janvier, reaching up to Monte Fraiteve at 2500 meters above sea level. The area is characterized by different habitats and spectacular blooms with over 500 botanical species, some rare such as Koeleria Vallesiana. There are wet areas with species such as Carex limosa and orchids. There is a station of the rare orchid Cypripedium calceolus. The area is home to numerous butterflies and a significant population of Petronia petronia. There are also protected bird species such as the Ortolan and the Eagle. The area has been preserved thanks to the traditional agricultural practice and environmental commitment of the Poncet family.
