The Moncenisio Pass, suspended between Italy and Europe, holds a history of military ingenuity and strategic transformations. This book reveals the hidden face of the pass, an Alpine crossroads fortified for over a century: from the great 19th-century forts to the invisible structures of the Alpine Wall, carved into the rock and perfectly integrated into the landscape. Through a visit to what remains—paths, ruins, and testimonies—the story of a long-armed border unfolds, where even soldiers had to submit to the harshness and difficulties of the Alpine terrain. A journey through nature and memory, in a landscape of incomparable beauty, which still preserves the living testimony of its strategic role.
