CONFERENCE - IncontrArti... "The World of Magic in Art" with Gisella Viero at the "F. Tabusso" art gallery (Piazza Roma) in Rubiana on Saturday, June 13th at 4:00 PM.
Since ancient times, humankind has sought to give form to what it could not explain. And it has done so primarily through two channels: art and magic.
The first part will focus on how the history of art has depicted the witch, the occult, and the world of magic.
We will see how the figure of the witch has changed over the centuries: from a fearsome demonic creature in Renaissance and Baroque paintings, to a symbol of rebellion, freedom, and a profound connection with nature in more recent times. Art has given a face to our fears and our darkest desires.
The heart of the journey will continue by analyzing the artist as a modern magician.
Both the magician and the artist refuse to accept the world as it is; both want to transform it, evoke it, reinvent it.
Ultimately, if we think about it, we must ask ourselves: aren't artists the true magicians of modernity?
