Sant'Antonino di Susa

Bruna Bertolo returns to Sant'Antonino with her latest historical research on the first queen of Italy after unification, on Thursday, March 5th at 6:00 pm at the "L. Ferrero" Civic Library.

Margherita: this was the name of the first queen that Italy, born from the wars of the Risorgimento, had. She was also called the "queen of hearts in unified Italy." Today, she is considered the first great "influencer" of a rapidly changing Italy between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, which found in her personality the most charismatic figure for the beginning of a new era, capable of representing, even in the midst of change, the most significant legacy of the Savoy dynasty. In this volume, Bruna Bertolo presents us, through her story and the many images, a portrait of a sovereign who, a hundred years after her death, continues to arouse great interest. She lived a charismatic female role with joy and commitment, triumphing everywhere, amidst the poverty of the common people and the grandeur of the courts of the time. Enchanted by technological advances and aware that women must forge new paths, she represented the first "regal" figure of modern Italy.
