On July 24 at 09:00 at Dino Campana city library meeting about Raymond Queneau: Esercizi di stile.
This work, first published in 1947, is not just a book, but a true literary laboratory.
Queneau takes a banal event—an encounter on a bus with a long-necked man arguing with another passenger, only to find him again later at the Gare Saint-Lazare—and recounts it ninety-nine times, each time in a different style.
From classical narrative to poetry, from scientific language to jargon, from dreams to onomatopoeia, Queneau demonstrates the extraordinary malleability of language and how the "how" can transform, or even transcend, the "what." Each exercise is a challenge to perception, an invitation to look beyond the surface and discover the infinite expressive possibilities that language offers us.
