On Saturday, March 29 at 04:00 pm "I Promessi Sposi e Piccolo Mondo Antico. La pace del lago, il tormento dei cuori".
"I Promessi Sposi" by Alessandro Manzoni and "Piccolo Mondo Antico" by Antonio Fogazzaro are two fundamental novels of Italian literature, but with significant differences both in the theme and in the historical and social context.
On the one hand we have a Manzonian historical-social novel with a strong message of hope and redemption through faith: among the themes we will see the plague, tyranny, the possibility of redemption through suffering, with two typical characters of romantic fiction who triumph thanks to their tenacity.
On the other hand, a psychological novel that explores the conflict between tradition and modernity, with a profound reflection on morality and individual difficulties: Franco and Luisa must reconcile religious values with the challenges of modern life, in continuous mediation between reason and faith, between tradition and change.
Both, however, are works that address the great human and moral challenges through the introspection of their characters.
The lake serves as a backdrop: a fundamental element for the atmosphere and for the representation of the characters' internal and social conflicts.
