The speaker will present the two main perspectives through which we can interpret the evolution of thought on monstrosity.
On the one hand, disenchantment; on the other, the political and social reorganization of its interpretations.
Within this framework, the theory of maternal imagination will be explored and the famous case of Mary Toft will be analyzed, taken as an emblematic example of control over the female body and political conflict surrounding the generation of the monstrous.
