18th edition of the HAT Sanremo Sestriere with almost 500 starters (481) from 12 nations (60% foreign). Present were a dozen professional drivers who have done the Dakar, among which Nacho Cornejo, current official Hero driver (7th at the last Dakar), Alex Salvini, world enduro champion, official Fantic driver and Gioele Meoni, son of the late Fabrizio, former winner of the Dakar, stood out.
The Extreme 1000 category will start on Friday 4 September at 11pm from Piazzale Daiuto on the Sanremo seafront (approximately 900 km travelled, 100 participants). The other categories will start on Saturday 5th from 8.30am to 12.00pm. Intermediate stop in Boves (CN) with refreshment for everyone in the central square.
The participants will travel along different itineraries along ancient roads and mule tracks in the Ligurian hinterland, then moving to Piedmont, crossing, always mainly on dirt roads, the province of Cuneo and the municipalities of the metropolitan city of Turin. All for a difference in altitude from zero meters above sea level up to 2035 of Colle del Sestriere.
Arrival from a grand gala, on the catwalk in front of the Vialattea slopes in Sestriere, using the entire length of Piazzale Kandahar (about 400 metres) scheduled from 11am on Sunday 6th to 6pm.
