Six men, a balsa wood raft, and 8,000 kilometers of open ocean... KON-TIKI: READY TO EMBARK ONTO MYTH?
In 1947, Norwegian explorer and anthropologist Thor Heyerdahl decided to prove a revolutionary and seemingly crazy theory: that the ancient peoples of South America could have colonized Polynesia by sailing aboard simple rafts, using only the trade winds and ocean currents.
Against the advice of all scientists at the time, who considered the undertaking certain suicide, Heyerdahl and five other courageous companions built the Kon-Tiki—a faithful replica of pre-Columbian vessels—and relied entirely on the power of the Pacific.
What followed was a legendary 101-day journey, through ocean storms, sharks surfacing, and a coexistence beyond belief. An undertaking that held the world in suspense and forever changed our view of ancient migration routes.
We will relive this incredible epic together, one of courage, science, and a visceral love for the unknown. A journey beyond the boundaries of possibility!
