The Great War left an indelible mark on our communities. Sergeant Julien Vertou experiences this epic saga by reflecting on his life—its sorrows and hopes, its loves, and the memories of his youth.
This is the backdrop for *Il pendio dei noci* (The Walnut Slope), the latest book by Gianni Oliva. It recounts the final months of the Great War through a narrative that shifts between past and present, intertwining events in the Val Sangone valley with those on the battlefront.
*Il pendio dei noci* will be presented at the ‘Margherita Hack’ Municipal Library in Condove (Via Roma 1) on Wednesday, October 14, at 8:45 PM, with the author in attendance.
The event is organized by the Condove and Mocchie Libraries in collaboration with the Valsusa Library System, Unitre Condove, the ANPI Condove-Caprie section, and the Condove section of the National Association of Combatants and Veterans.
