On Saturday, November 29 at 05:30 pm at the Opificio delle Idee presentation of the book “Al servizio di Cavour” by Fabrizio Dardo.
The backdrop is the splendid Turin of the Risorgimento, painted with a brush, just like the book's cover: secular and Catholic, monarchist and liberal, rigorous yet also fun, reeking of bicerin, polenta, and baci di dama.
Included among the texts nominated for the 37th Calvino Prize, Dardo's historical novel combines "crime" tones with a touch of romance and politics: when Lieutenant Richerme had him beaten by his henchmen and expelled from the army, Bartolomeo Leseni couldn't imagine how he would get his revenge. He didn't know he would enter the service of Count Cavour, who would train him with the secret police and keep him as his personal assistant. But Richerme reappeared. And the memory reawakens in Bartolomeo a desire for revenge...
