Inauguration of Piazza del Popolo in Avigliana

The inauguration ceremony for the new Piazza del Popolo will take place on Saturday, June 6, starting at 6:00 PM.

Piazza del Popolo, the civic heart of the city of Avigliana, has undergone a major urban regeneration project that has restored its public and pedestrian character, expanding spaces for people, enhancing the existing greenery, and introducing new paving in Luserna stone blocks. The historic plane trees that characterized its skyline have been preserved, demonstrating the connection between memory and transformation that guided the entire project.

The project is part of the public infrastructure regeneration and enhancement initiatives funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), as part of the NextGenerationEU Program — Mission M5C2, Investment 2.2 (PUI—Integrated Urban Plans), through interventions led by the Metropolitan City of Turin. Over ten million euros of public funds have been invested within a radius of just over three hundred meters, from the school area on Via Nicol to Piazza del Popolo and the Casa del Popolo: a concentration of resources that will permanently transform a strategic part of the city.

The inauguration of Piazza del Popolo aims to be a significant moment to highlight the collaboration between local institutions, organizations, and organizations that made this achievement possible. It will also be an opportunity for a day of celebration open to all citizens. Starting at 4:00 PM, the area will feature a children's area and a food court. At 6:00 PM, official greetings will be held with Andrea Archinà, Mayor of Avigliana, and Jacopo Suppo, Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan City of Turin. The evening of Saturday, June 6th, will continue at 7:30 PM with a DJ set by the Sinapsi collective and will conclude with a concert by Bandabardò, organized by Borgate dal Vivo, scheduled for 9:30 PM. Admission is free.
